A Brief CV
Gained a mathematics degree from Imperial College, London University.
Became a schoolteacher for 3 years
Attended the Royal Academy of Music and graduated with diplomas in composition, orchestration and bass playing
Met the well known jazz musician, band-leader and composer John Dankworth
Orchestrated for John on several films, T.V. series and concerts, the latter involving the internationally acclaimed vocalist Cleo Laine.
Involved in orchestration and arranging work for various companies including the BBC, ITV.
Started work for record companies which led on to writing and production in the field of commercial ‘pop’ music.
Several ‘hit’ records followed some of which ‘charted’ world-wide.
One of these alone sold approximately 3 million copies and two others close to the million mark.
These involved the award of 15 Gold and Silver records and number one chart placings in seven territories.
Meanwhile continued to do orchestration work up to full Symphony Orchestra level.
Other activities included running a recording studio, getting involved in music publishing (a necessary exercise due to a dispute with a publishing company), teaching modern musical styles and techniques, organising and teaching on various sound recording courses and working on arrangement, production, writing and sound engineering with various artists.
These include (in the early days) Sandy Shaw, Rod Stewart, Scott Walker, Adam Faith, Mungo Jerry, Kelly Marie, Jose Feliciano, Benny Goodman and, more recently, Lulu, Anita Ward and, of course, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth.
Recently involved in composing and producing theme and background music for TV Programmes.
A member of PRS and MCPS for 25 years and registered with them as a publisher for 15 years.

Musical
Musical arranging, instruments, vocals, ensembles and recording.
Sound engineering, production, computers in music, teaching of sound engineering.
Involved in arranging, programming and recording all styles; Rock, country, pop, heavy metal,R&B, jazz, orchestral, jingles and dance. Continues to work as an orchestrator having recently produced full scores for various symphony orchestras.
Business
Setting up publishing and production companies, ran a small label for a while, Artist and song contracts.
Involved in getting deals, contract negotiation (& advice), publishing and legal squabbles (a good training ground).
Dealt with the PRS as a writer and publisher, with the M.C.P.S., with production, artist and mechanical royalties.
Communication
Extensive teaching and communication experience, including 5 years in schools, a year teaching sound engineering and 10 years for two weeks per year working on the Wavendon music courses which are run by, or at least on behalf of, John Dankworth and Cleo Laine.

Some degree of PR, A & R, management and accountancy skills.
